Texas Justice Democrats supports the traditional separation of powers in American and Texas government. The independence of the judiciary from other branches of government is fundamental to projecting fairness and objectivity in our justice system. We do not want "blue" or "red" courts or judges. We want fair, objective judges.
Texas remains a state in which voters elect most judges. We view this as an overall positive because it allows for a judiciary that reflects the will of the population, that is accountable, and that has independence from other branches of government. Separation of powers within government is a founding principle of our country that must be defended. Some interest groups on the right would like to limit the election of judges, or create courts that are under the control of the executive branch. We believe this is a dangerous idea. We hold that election of judges is a strong, proven system, with a long history in Texas, that has created a better judiciary.
All funds raised by Texas Justice Democrats go directly to constituent outreach projects to educate Texans about our justice system and courts. We do not maintain a staff or office so that resources are not drained away on overhead. We use donations for what they were meant for: direct communication with people. We look for key areas of need and conduct concentrated, efficient and effective outreach to shore up support for our mission.
